Careers at Bloom Kitchen
Part – Time Lead Cooking Instructor
ROLE SUMMARY:
You will lead hands-on cooking classes, school vacation programs, birthday parties, and family events for children and families at our Peabody studio, local schools, and event spaces. You will take full ownership of each event — from setup through cleanup — and bring Bloom's warm, confidence-building environment to life for every guest.
Professional cooking experience is not required. We provide complete training, lesson plans, and recipes. What we do require is dependability, a genuine love of working with kids, and the ability to lead a room with calm confidence.
YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES:
Class & Event Leadership
Lead cooking classes, school vacation programs, birthday parties, and family events from start to finish.
Create a kid-centered atmosphere that builds confidence, creativity, and joy.
Follow provided lesson plans and recipes while adapting in real time as needed.
Manage group pacing, energy, and classroom structure throughout each event.
Handle in-person product sales and basic transactions during classes or events.
Preparation & Setup
Pick up pre-ordered groceries as needed prior to class.
Set up ingredients, tools, and stations proactively before guests arrive.
Ensure the space is fully organized and ready before each event begins.
Cleanup & Reset
Wash dishes, sanitize surfaces, and sweep and mop after each event.
Fully reset the kitchen and classroom for the next group.
Track low inventory and flag supply needs as they arise.
Administrative Support
Assist with light client communication via email or text as needed.
Upload recipes or materials to the website on occasion.
Capture photos and short videos during classes to support Bloom's content.
SCHEDULE & AVAILABILITY
This is a flexible, part-time position averaging approximately 20 hours per month through the 2025-2026 academic school year. Hours will vary depending on scheduled classes, birthday parties, and special events.
One of the perks of working at Bloom is flexible scheduling! Whenever possible, we build our class and event calendars around our instructors' availability. Rather than assigning a fixed schedule, we work collaboratively to identify dates that fit both our programming needs and your availability.
Required Availability
Candidates must have consistent availability for the following:
Weekends: A minimum of two weekend days per month. Saturday or Sunday availability is acceptable; both are preferred. Additional weekend availability is always welcome!
Winter School Vacation: A minimum of three non-holiday days of availability during December 27, 2026–January 2, 2027.
February School Vacation: A minimum of three days of availability during February 13–21, 2027.
April School Vacation: A minimum of three days of availability during April 17–25, 2027.
Availability does not guarantee scheduled hours. Classes and events will be scheduled based on instructor availability, enrollment, and business needs. Once scheduled, instructors are expected to honor their commitments.
Preferred Availability (Not Required)
Additional opportunities may be available during:
Summer 2027: Opportunities for instructors interested in continuing into our summer programs. Preference will be given to candidates who can commit to multiple program weeks.
Weekday Mornings: Particularly Mondays and Fridays.
Weekday Afternoons/Evenings: After-school cooking programs and special events.
Summer availability is not required for this position, but candidates should indicate whether they are interested in continuing through the summer.
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
Warm, patient, and confident working with children and families.
Highly dependable — classes and parties are booked and paid for in advance, so reliability is essential.
Able to lead a group with calm authority while keeping energy positive and encouraging.
Comfortable adapting in real time when something isn't going as planned.
Solid basic cooking skills: following recipes, managing timing, and making simple substitutions.
Takes initiative and solves problems independently without waiting for direction.
Reliable transportation and the ability to honor scheduled commitments consistently.
Comfortable with basic technology tools such as Google Workspace or similar platforms.
REQUIREMENTS
Successful completion of a background check
Completion of ServSafe (or equivalent) food safety certification — provided or reimbursed.
Completion of on-site shadowing and hands-on training prior to leading classes independently.
Willingness to embrace and model Bloom's systems, standards, and values.
